Telethon Volunteers Needed
The 21st annual Children's Miracle Network Telethon to
benefit the
Johns Hopkins Children's Center is scheduled to air on
ABC's WMAR-TV from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 6.
Anchors Mary Beth Marsden, Brian Wood and Denise Dory will
once again serve as hosts, interviewing patient families,
physicians, staff and corporate sponsors. Since its
inception in 1984, the telethon has raised more than $32.9
million through corporate sponsors and community support.
Volunteers are still needed.
For more information, call Paula Shell,
410-516-4517.

Golf Tournament Volunteers Needed
The Constellation Energy Classic returns this fall at
Hayfields Country Club in Hunt Valley, Sept. 27 to Oct. 3.
Volunteers can join golf legends Tom Watson, Larry Nelson
and Peter Jacobson while helping the Robert Packard Center
for ALS Research at Johns Hopkins.
The center is a unique collaboration of scientists
worldwide, working aggressively to develop new treatments
and a cure for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or Lou
Gehrig's disease. Other charities benefiting from the event
include the Kennedy Krieger Institute, Living Classrooms
Foundation and Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
Hopkins is recruiting people to act as marshals for
the event. These positions place volunteers inside the
ropes with the players and are critical to the success of
the tournament. Contact Mike Renwick at renwick@jhu.edu or
410-516-4419 for an application. (Give JHU as your
affiliation.)
