The Bloomberg School
of Public Health feted staff members celebrating
milestone service anniversaries with a Hawaiian-themed
staff recognition reception on June 8 in Feinstone Hall.
Staff from the school enjoyed hors d'oeuvres and lemonade
served by faculty, deans and other administrators while
listening to beachy tunes amid a setting of tropical
flowers, leis and blow-up palm trees — appropriate
decor given the summer heat outside.
Greeting staff and distributing recognition awards
were Al Sommer, the school's dean; Herb Hansen, senior
associate dean for finance and administration; and Cherita
Hobbs, director of human resources.
The university recognized 138 individuals — 65
staff commemorating five years of service, 38 marking 10
years and 32 celebrating 15 years. Those with five years of
service received a pewter pendant key ring with the Johns
Hopkins seal; those with 10, a lead crystal paperweight
with the Johns Hopkins logo; and 15-year honorees, a cherry
wood clock with the Johns Hopkins logo.
The School of Public Health's recognition event is
coordinated by its Office of Finance and Administration in
conjunction with the university's
Office of
Faculty, Staff and Retiree Programs, with Cindy
Haebler, associate director for administration at SPH, as
the creative driving force.
