On May 10, Charlene Moore Hayes, vice president for human resources, and Jim McGill, senior vice president for finance and administration, represented the university in honoring 320 staff members with five, 10 and 15 years of service at a reception in Homewood's Glass Pavilion. Those recognized work at the Peabody Institute, JHPIEGO and Homewood divisions, including the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences, School of Professional Studies in Business and Education, Whiting School of Engineering, Academic and Cultural Centers, and both university and Homewood administrations.

Division and department heads handed out awards and personally thanked the honorees, who were feted with light fare and remarks by Hayes, McGill and Sandra Cobb, director of the Office of Faculty, Staff and Retiree Programs, which coordinated the event.

Commenting on the more than 2,500 years of service to the university represented at the event, McGill said, "This impressive figure confirms what I have learned during my own years here: Hopkins staff are truly remarkable individuals who embody the university's principles."

Forty-seven staff members with 15 years of service received a Regency cherry wood clock; 92 staff members with 10 years of service, a lead crystal paperweight; and 181 staff members with five years of service, pewter key rings. All gifts were engraved with the Johns Hopkins seal or logo.

Four other recognition events are scheduled throughout the spring. Retiring staff and those celebrating milestone anniversaries of 20, 25, 30, 35 and 38 years or more will be honored at a formal dinner on June 7 at the O'Connor Recreation Center, Homewood campus.
