JHU Men Profs Win Second Baltimore Marathon Corporate Cup
Headline
The JHU Mens Profs, a cross-disciplinary team of
faculty/runners, were presented with their second
consecutive Baltimore Marathon Corporate Cup at a ceremony
held March 3 at the Mayor's Ceremonial Room at Baltimore
City Hall. The four-man team consists of Sanjay
Arwade, assistant professor in Civil Engineering;
Peter Searson, second row, professor in Materials
Science and Engineering; Gerald Meyer, professor in
Chemistry; and Thomas Haine, associate professor in
Earth and Planetary Sciences. They're pictured below with
Kevin Plank, second row center, president of Under Armour,
sponsor of the Baltimore Running Festival of which the
marathon is part; Wendy Brown, holding cup, of Legg Mason,
sponsor of the team relay portion of the marathon; Mayor
Martin O'Malley; and Councilwoman Catherine Pugh.

A race within a race, the Corporate Cup is open to any
relay team with at least two members employed by the same
company or belonging to the same organization. Dedicated
runners, the JHU Mens Profs train nearly year-round and run
on most weekdays with a group called the Hopkins Harriers,
who meet at the Ames Hall breezeway on the Homewood campus.
On any given day, they may do a "post run," a 10-mile loop
out to Robert E. Lee Park; a "Lake run," about seven miles
out to Lake Avenue and back; a "Ben 10," a five-mile loop
named after group member Ben Schafer, assistant professor
in Civil Engineering; or a track workout.
