Senior Week 2005
Nearly 200 soon-to-be Johns Hopkins graduates set sail
last Thursday for a three-hour cruise in the Inner Harbor.
The event kicked off Senior Week 2005, a slate of
activities that will end on May 25 with a luncheon in the
Decker Gardens hosted by President William R. Brody. This
year's package of events also includes a Club Crawl at the
Power Plant, a trip to Six Flags America, a senior formal
and a party in the infield on Preakness Day. The Gazette
caught up with some of the seniors (and one junior) as they
were boarding the Lady Baltimore to ask them: What is the
most important thing you've learned while at Johns
Hopkins?

Ceremonies put cap on 129th year
An academic journey for thousands of Johns Hopkins
students nears its conclusion. On Thursday morning,
President William R. Brody will confer degrees and
certificates on 6,131 JHU scholars, the
largest graduating class in the university's history.

Secret Service veteran named to head Homewood
Security
You might not think that protecting a president is
much like securing a campus. But if that's what you
think, Ed Skrodzki thinks
you're wrong. "It's a good fit for me," said Skrodzki, a
Secret Service veteran appointed last week as the next
executive director of safety and
security at Homewood. "At the Secret Service, our
institutional culture is one of prevention. We take a
proactive approach to our protective and criminal
investigative responsibilities.
