WorkLife Programs has scheduled two financial planning
workshops designed for individuals with more than 20 years
until retirement. In East Baltimore, the workshop is
scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11, and at
JH@Eastern, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 13.
Topics include retirement planning, investment
fundamentals and asset allocation. Register online by going
to
www.hopkinsworklife.org. Precise locations will be
provided along with confirmation notice.

Welch Library Workshop
The Welch Library is offering two free classes on Sept. 27
in Lab 1 of the 2024 Monument Building. From 10 a.m. to
noon, the Library 101 workshop will teach participants how
to use the JHMI libraries more effectively. Topics include
accessing the libraries' 3,300+ full-text journals from
home or office, locating books and journals within the JHU
libraries and using Weldoc and the new JHU libraries
catalog to request books and journal articles.
From 1 to 4 p.m., an introduction to PubMed: Beginning
will help new searchers build basic skills. PubMed is the
National Library of Medicine's search service that provides
free access to more than 13 million citations in Medline.
It offers links to many online publications and related
articles. Searchers will learn how to use the History,
Clipboard, and Details features, as well as the Citation
Matcher to locate incomplete citations. They will also
learn how to save searches and use Lonesome Doc in
conjunction with Weldoc.
Registration is required. Forms can be downloaded from
www.welch.jhu.edu/classes/regform.pdf and, when
completed, faxed to 410-614-3810. For a list of other free
classes offered by the Welch Library, go to
