Hopkins Picnic — A 'Labor of Fun'
Cloud cover and a break in the prevailing heat wave
provided just the right kind of weather for the 2,000-plus
attendees of this year's Johns Hopkins Picnic. The annual
event, held for the second year behind the offices of Johns
Hopkins at Eastern, brought out everyone from staff babies
to retirees from both the university and the hospital for
an evening of outdoor fun and games.
Picnic-goers enjoyed food, a DJ and dancing, while the
little ones had arts and crafts, volleyball and lots of
room to run around and play. Deans, directors and officers
from the university and hospital volunteered to do the
grilling, while other faculty and staff manned posts at the
beer garden, admission gates and children's activities to
pull off this "labor of fun" without a hitch.
