It was supposed to have been a real day at The Beach — the one at Homewood, that is — where JHU administrators and students could share an afternoon of sunshine, music and refreshments with neighborhood residents to become better acquainted. The rain cut the Sept. 24 event a bit short, however — sending attendees to find shelter under umbrellas — but the second annual Student-Community Get-together drew a high-spirited group that included six community organizations, the women's soccer team, the Sirens a cappella group and student bands Flim Flam and the Cover Band, as well as other students and residents. At right, McGruff the Crime Dog stays dry with JHU's Steve Ossmus, Carrie Bennett, Paula Burger and Ed Skrodski.
