DLC Seeks Presentation Proposals for Nov. 1 Diversity Conference

The JHI Diversity Leadership Council has issued a call for proposals for presentations for its third annual DLC Leadership Council Diversity Conference. At this event, scheduled for 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1, on the Homewood campus, members of the administration, faculty and staff will examine critical questions related to diversity, cultural awareness, inclusion and equity in postsecondary education.

Possible topic areas include recruiting and retaining diverse faculty, bridging the gender gap in higher education, the multigenerational workplace, defining diversity, celebration of Native American heritage month, cultural awareness and embracing diversity, cultural competence in health care, the legal implications of retaliation, capitalizing on diversity for effective organizational change, the climate of diversity at Hopkins and its impact, creating an inclusive educational environment, recruitment and retention of employees and students with disabilities, conflict resolution, immigration reform and its impact on the community, and student leadership.

All materials must be typed and submitted by Sept. 15. Proposal packets must include a cover sheet including the proposal title, date of submission and contact person(s) with phone, e-mail, fax and address; audio/visual needs; a session abstract (limited to 100 words); a session summary (two-page maximum); and a biographical sketch of the presenter (limited to 50 words).
