2006 Walk for PKD
Polycystic kidney disease is the most common of all
life-threatening genetic diseases, affecting more people
than Down syndrome, cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy,
hemophilia, sickle cell anemia and Huntington's disease
combined.
The Walk for PKD is a national event targeted at
funding vital research into a cure.
The walk takes place on Saturday, Sept. 16, at Rash
Field in the Inner Harbor. Registration begins at 11 a.m.,
and the walk starts at noon. Every paid registrant receives
a Walk for PKD T-shirt.
The goal is to fund more than 35 promising research
grants, and organizers hope that every walker will raise
$220, or more. For more information, contact Nicole San
Miguel at
marylandpkdwalk@hotmail.com or 410-248-9151 or Mark
Jacobson at 410-215-0615.

Revised Credit Union Loan Process
All JHH employees seeking credit union loans for SoN
tuition should start at JHH's Human Resources office, not
the credit union. The blue JHH tuition remission form that
indicates SoN in the heading — not the white form
— can be picked up at the JHH Human Resources office.
All forms should include a supervisor's signature and
should be turned into the JHH Human Resources office in 455
Phipps, along with a copy of your student bill online.
The forms will be pre-approved at JHH HR within a week
and the information will be forwarded to the SoN Student
Accounts office. SoN will provide a second approval and
forward the information to the credit union. The student
will be contacted by the SoN Student Accounts office and
instructed to proceed to the credit union to process the
loan.
Checks will be provided to the student immediately,
made payable to JHU SoN, to use to pay the student's
tuition. The deadline for submitting the forms to JHH HR
for the fall semester is Sept. 30. For more information,
contact SoN Student Accounts at 410-955-1243.
