At a gala dinner on Oct. 28 in the Ralph S. O'Connor
Recreation Center at Homewood, university President William
R. Brody thanked a crowd of nearly 700 guests for helping
Johns Hopkins surpass its initial $2 billion goal in the
Knowledge for the World campaign and announced a new goal
of $3.2 billion.
Among those honored at the event were Axel and Naneen
Neubohn, who met as students at SAIS's Bologna Center in
1963 and were recognized for a commitment to the center's
building project, and Children's Cancer Foundation
president Shirley Howard, for a grant to fund the pediatric
oncology inpatient unit in the new Children's Tower at The
Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Peabody Conservatory classical guitarists Benjamin
Beirs and Maud Laforest performed for the audience.
