School Supplies Distributed to Students in Waverly
The 1,437 back-to-school items recently donated to the Waverly Back-to-School Supply Drive by generous Johns Hopkins employees on the Homewood and Eastern campuses are now in the hands of their future users.
On Friday, Aug. 18, the Office of Community Affairs distributed the pencils, pens, paper and more to local elementary, middle and high school students attending a Waverly back-to-school event, held from 5 to 7 p.m. on the corner of Gorsuch and Independence avenues.
Johns Hopkins representatives also handed out pamphlets about the university's Center for Talented Youth and Baltimore Scholars Program, which provides full-tuition scholarships to graduates of Baltimore City public schools accepted into the university's undergraduate programs.
