Phlegar Named to Development, Alumni Post at
Cornell
Charlie Phlegar, interim vice president for
development and alumni
relations at Johns Hopkins since January, will take
over the post of vice president for development and alumni
relations at Cornell University on July 1, concurrent with
the investiture of its new president, David Skorton.
"The opportunity at Cornell is a well-deserved one for
Charlie, who is an outstanding development professional and
a valuable colleague," President William R. Brody wrote
last week in an e-mail announcing Phlegar's new position to
the Hopkins community. "[He] has been instrumental in the
success of The Johns Hopkins Campaign: Knowledge for the
World, which has raised $2.2 billion for the university and
Johns Hopkins Medicine."
Phlegar came to Johns Hopkins in 2001 as associate
vice president and was later named senior associate vice
president.
As recently announced, Michael Eicher of UCLA will
join Hopkins on Sept. 1 as vice president for development
and alumni relations.
