The 2007-2008 academic year begins as 1,211 freshmen arrive
on the Homewood campus

Johns Hopkins certainly has its share of movers and
shakers. On move-in days, the university
also has a bevy of greeters, walkers and unloaders.
The Class of 2011 descended upon Homewood campus on
Friday and Saturday to check into
student housing and begin their academic journeys.

Text messages to be used in
emergencies
Johns Hopkins on Thursday, Sept. 6, will activate a new
system to alert students, faculty and
staff by text message in the event of a major emergency
that
threatens the lives or safety of
members of the campus community.

Johns Hopkins acquires 6,000-item H.L. Mencken
collection
The Johns Hopkins University has acquired what is
believed to be the largest privately held
collection of items associated with writer and journalist
H.L. Mencken — nearly 6,000 books, articles,
letters, photographs and other items amassed over 44 years
by an Ohio accountant with a passion for
the Sage of Baltimore.
