Spring Fair Is Here

A concert by hip-hop artist Common will be a highlight of the 36th annual Johns Hopkins Spring Fair, which opens at noon on Friday, April 13.

For three days, the Homewood campus will be home to carnival rides, inflatable games, crafts vendors, children's activities, a food court, booths hosting student organizations and national nonprofits, a photography contest, daytime entertainment stages featuring Baltimore and student bands, and a Beer Garden with entertainment.

The Saturday night concert is set for 8 p.m. (doors open at 7:30) in the Ralph O'Connor Recreation Center.

During his 15-year career, Common has risen from the depths of the underground to commercial and critical success. After independent releases Can I Borrow a Dollar? Resurrection and One Day It'll All Make Sense came his major-label debut, Like Water for Chocolate, in 2000. He followed this with Electric Circus and received massive critical acclaim and four Grammy nominations for Be in 2005. Finding Forever will be released this year.

He has recently crossed over to acting, co-starring this year in Smokin' Aces with Jeremy Piven and Ben Affleck and the upcoming American Gangster with Denzel Washington, Russell Crowe and Cuba Gooding Jr.

General admission tickets for Common's all-ages concert are $20; $10 for JHU students with ID. More information is available at:

www.jhuspringfair.com

Spring Fair hours are noon to 8 p.m. on Friday, noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
