Longtime Employees Honored As Staff Celebrations
Begin
A record number of Johns Hopkins staff gathered on
June 5 with their guests to mark
20 or more years of service and celebrate their retirements
at the annual recognition dinner
organized by the Office of
Faculty, Staff and Retiree Programs.
President William R. Brody remarked on the high level
of community spirit that exists
among staff and then handed out the service awards to the
recipients, who were celebrating
20 or more years, in increments of five years, all the way
up to 60 years of service.
Custom-designed watches, luggage and stained glass lamps
topped the list of awards requested from
among the new choices made available to staff this year.
Of the 375 staff and guests who attended the dinner,
there were six with 35 years of
service to the university, 23 with 30 years, 37 with 25
years and 72 celebrating 20 years, plus
43 new retirees and six marking more than 41 years —
all in all, representing more than 8,000
years of collective service. — John
