Business for Scientists
The JHMI Professional Development Office is pleased to
announce a new course, Business for Scientists, to be
offered in conjunction with faculty from the Kellogg School
of Management.
This three-module certificate course will introduce
business concepts and industry-specific tools and
frameworks to professionals interested in biotechnology,
enabling participants to understand how innovation moves
from bench to market. For additional information, contact

CLF Predoctoral Fellowship Program
The Johns Hopkins Center for a Livable Future is now
accepting applications for its 2007-2008 Predoctoral
Fellowship Program. These fellowships support predoctoral
students who are committed to the discovery and/or
application of knowledge about the environmental, economic,
social and health impacts of industrial food-animal
production practices in the United States and/or abroad.
Johns Hopkins students from any division of the
university, including those applying to a doctoral program
at the time of this application, are eligible for support
during any stage of their doctoral program.
Each fellowship provides one year of support in an
amount up to $50,000 to be used for tuition, stipend and/or
research expenses depending on individual needs. Current
CLF fellows may apply for academic year 2007-2008 to
compete equally with new applicants. While there is no
limitation to the number of years a fellow may be
supported, it is expected that students will seek other
grant funding as they progress through their program. Note:
Tuition will be paid only for first- or second-year
doctoral students.
While receiving support from the CLF, fellows will be
expected to participate in appropriate CLF activities, to
represent CLF at selected meetings and to serve as a
scientific resource to CLF. Awards will be announced in
early May.
