United Way 2007: How Are We Doing?
The annual Johns Hopkins United Way campaign is off to
a great start. In just three weeks,
faculty and staff have given more than $680,000 to agencies
supported by United Way of Central
Maryland, and more than $81,000 has been directed to the
new Johns Hopkins Neighborhood Fund,
which will assist nonprofit organizations in the areas
surrounding the university's campuses.
Currently, 55 percent of the total goal has been met;
with just four more weeks to go in the
campaign, those who have not yet contributed are asked to
consider making a pledge.
Upcoming events on the Homewood campus for the Johns
Hopkins Neighborhood Fund and
campaign for United Way of Central Maryland include the
fifth annual Chili Cook-Off, on Friday, Nov.
30, in the Glass Pavilion; a Gold Rush for turning unwanted
jewelry into cash, on Tuesday and
Wednesday, Dec. 4 and 5, in the Clipper Room, and on
Thursday, Dec. 6, in the Sherwood Room, both in
Levering Hall; and a Flea Market on Thursday, Dec. 6, in
the Great Hall, Levering Hall.
