It may attract some 25,000 people to the Homewood campus over three days each spring, but the Friday noon opening of Spring Fair always has the vibe of a family picnic as faculty, staff and students scope out the year's vendors — both old-timers and first-time attendees — and get first dibs on their favorite carnival fare.

This year's event, which kicked off Thursday night with a fireworks-sparked party from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Levering Plaza, included an outdoor concert by Bones Thugs-n-Harmony and Reel Big Fish, two days of live music performances on The Beach, a beer garden, kids activities, games and contests.
