President Daniels arrives at
Homewood
On Monday, March 2, his first official day as Johns
Hopkins University president, Ron Daniels
stepped onto a snow-blanketed Homewood campus. When he
arrived at Garland Hall, home of the
President's Office, his new staff was on hand to welcome
him — along with a Blue Jay-blue welcome sign
and some JHU-inspired good luck fortune cookies.

charities ready
In an unprecedented appeal to America's public and

people, leaders of organizations representing tens of
thousands of American nonprofit organizations
last week called for a reinvigorated and empowered
partnership between government and the
nonprofit "citizen sector" to address the country's social,
economic and environmental problems and
improve the quality of community life.
