Committee Wants Faculty Views on Next President University faculty will have an opportunity to share with the Presidential Search Committee their thoughts and concerns about who should succeed William C. Richardson. Dr. Richardson will relinquish his post on Aug. 1, to become president and chief executive officer of the W. K. Kellogg Foundation, the nation's second largest philanthropic foundation. The following invitation is extended to the faculty from the chairman of the board of trustees, Morris W. Offit: ----------------------------------------------------------------- To Members of the Faculty of The Johns Hopkins University Dear Colleagues: Please let me advise you that members of the Presidential Search Committee would appreciate having an opportunity to hear directly from members of the faculty about issues they believe the committee should consider in searching for a successor to President Richardson. In a university community as diverse as ours, there clearly are many points of view about the experience and personal qualities we should be seeking in our next president. We hope that members of the faculty will be willing to share some of their thoughts about this important subject with us. We will be holding two meetings, simultaneously, at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 13: one in the Garrett Room of the Eisenhower Library on the Homewood campus and the other in Hurd Hall on the East Baltimore campus. Peabody and Continuing Studies faculty are invited to attend the meeting most convenient to them. A special opportunity for SAIS faculty to meet with the committee will be held in Washington at a date to be determined. We hope that many members of the faculty will be able to meet with us on Feb. 13. If you cannot attend, I hope you will send me your views c/o Presidential Search Committee, 240 Garland Hall, at Homewood. Morris W.
