A Grantsmanship
Workshop for Graduate and Postdoctoral Students will be held
March
25, from 9 a.m. to noon, in the Arellano Theater, Levering Hall,
on the Homewood
campus. The purpose of the workshop is to acquaint students
registered in Homewood
division schools with the resources available on the Homewood
campus for seeking
sponsored funding for research and to introduce those students to
methods and
strategies for improving research proposals. Registration is
required to assess the
number of students attending and to determine the location of
breakout sessions.

The
Oncology Center's
postgraduate program in biopsychosocial cancer care has two
new one-day courses planned for March. Genetic Testing and
Counseling for Adult
Onset Disorders: What the Health Care Professional Should Know is
scheduled for
Friday, March 20. The second course, Death: Expanding Our
Awareness, is scheduled
for Saturday, March 21. The courses, which will be held on the
East Baltimore
campus, will offer continuing education credits for nurses and
social workers.
Cost for all Hopkins faculty, staff, students and affiliates is
$40 for one course,
and $75 for both. Fees include continental breakfast and a boxed
lunch.

The 1998 Provost's
Undergraduate Research Awards will provide a number of $2,500
grants to support original research, composition or performance
projects next
summer or fall. Current freshmen, sophomores and juniors in Arts
and Sciences,
Engineering, Medicine and Nursing, and at the Peabody
Conservatory, are eligible.
The money can be used to pay the cost of the winner's research or
creative
projects. Winners can also choose either to receive up to $1,500
of the total award
as a cash stipend or to receive academic credit for the work.

The new master's and
postmaster's Family Nurse Practitioner major in the
School of
Nursing is accepting applications for September. Graduates of
this program are
eligible to apply for American Nurses Credentialing Center
certification as a
family nurse practitioner in primary care. Clinical experiences
will include a
variety of settings and patient populations in women's health,
infancy through
geriatrics, and underserved populations. For more information,

The Polish Heritage
Association of Maryland will award five $1,000 grants to
full-time students for the 1998 academic year. Applicants must be
of Polish descent
at least two Polish grandparents), be a resident of Maryland and
be pursuing
studies leading to a baccalaureate degree in humanities,
sociology or anthropology.
Selection will be based on academic standing, need and leadership
potential. For

The German Society of
Maryland is offering scholarships to undergraduate and
graduate students of German ancestry residing in Maryland.
Students must have
completed at least two semesters with a GPA of 3.0. The Princeton
Financial Aid
Form must also be filed. Special consideration will be given to
students who are
studying the German language or the culture of German-speaking
countries.

Moveable Feast needs
volunteers, Monday through Friday, to help prepare or deliver

wanted by the Office of Community Relations and Volunteer
Services, which is working with a local agency to help people
in need to receive
discounted prices on quality eyewear. Bring the glasses to the
second floor of
Levering Hall on the Homewood campus before the end of May.
