A Place for Power Snacks

Johns Hopkins Gazette Online Edition

The next time a late-night craving for corn chips hits, Homewood staff, students and faculty won't have to look far: A cafe-cum-shop in AMR II will be open 10:30 a.m.-12:30 a.m. Monday-Friday, 2-10 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m.-12:30 a.m. Sunday and is for everyone to use, according to Jean DeVito, associate director of Auxiliary Enterprises.

Photographed above on opening day are DeVito, Heydt and Zachary Pak, student council president.

Named Mega Bites, the newly renovated snack-bar facility features a Taco Bell Express, char-grilled and vegetarian foods and convenience store items such as chips, macaroni and cheese, breakfast cereals and milk. Roger Heydt, director of dining services for Sodexho-Marriott, was in charge of the store's design and construction and will manage the facility.
