Ever want to think along with medical residents, ask
questions they might ask, know what they are learning? Here's a
chance to do so from the relative safety of your office. The
Department of Medicine has constructed a Web site called The
Osler Medical Journal. The Internet publication--named in honor of Sir William Osler, the first physician-in-chief of the hospital--was created and is written and edited for the Osler medical house-staff by members of the housestaff. It is designed as a teaching tool to give residents the opportunity to read, research and write about medicine, habits that Osler regarded as fundamental to the lifelong education of physicians. The quarterly Web publication, edited this year by Monica Shah, contains articles on a wide range of topics, including clinical medicine, case reports, medical education and basic and clinical sciences. It also features "Osler by the Bedside." As the homepage of this section notes, "Bedside teaching was championed by Osler and remains a pivotal component of medical training."
