On United Way:
|
In an effort to encourage participation by Hopkins faculty
and staff, local merchants have donated goods and services
ranging from dinner for two to an overnight stay in a Baltimore
hotel. All the prizes are provided free of charge as an in-kind
contribution to the Hopkins effort. Anyone who donates $35 or more is eligible to win. The drawing will be held Nov. 6 at 2 p.m. All pledge forms returned before that time will be included in the drawing, which typically awards 20 or so separate prizes. Following is a partial list of lottery prizes to be awarded to randomly drawn United Way donors on Nov. 6.
For many people needing services, United Way is often the place to start. By calling First Call for Help, individuals can receive information and referrals to dozens of agencies dealing with AIDS, domestic violence, job training, and senior, disabled or youth services. First Call for Help is a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week hotline providing free access to all types of health and human service information. Staff and volunteers provide caring, confidential answers to personal questions with the aid of an automated resource file. Last year, the hotline fielded 55,000 calls. First Call for Help can be reached by dialing (410)685-0525 or 1-800-492-0618 for those out of area; TDD call (410)685-2159. It is just another of the many innovative public services made possible by your contribution to the United Way of Central Maryland.
