In snowy or icy weather, you can find out instantly whether Hopkins is open or closed by calling the university's weather emergency telephone line.
The emergency message is recorded as soon as the university makes a decision about how best to handle the situation. After an overnight storm, that usually occurs by 6 a.m. Decisions on part-time evening classes are usually made by 1 p.m. During major storms, the line is updated frequently with new information concerning library hours, shuttle service and the like. The information is also available on JHUniverse at http://www.jhu.edu/news_info/jhuinfo/emergncy.html. (Please note the spelling of "emergency" in the address.)
