Fall Classes at the Baltimore Free University
Registration begins Saturday, Sept. 22.

Registration for fall semester adult education courses offered by the Baltimore Free University will be held during a "meet the instructors" event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22, at Levering Union on the Homewood campus of The Johns Hopkins University, 3400 N. Charles St. in Baltimore. Registration continues through Oct. 6 at The Village Learning Place, 2521 St. Paul St. in Baltimore. For information about the Sept. 22 event, call 410-516-4777.

The registration session on Sept. 22 will provide an opportunity to learn more about the informal non-credit adult education program and its course offerings. Students will also have the chance to meet their instructors, many of whom live in the community or are doctoral candidates, professors and students at Johns Hopkins or alumni of the university.

Sponsored by The Village Learning Place and the Center for Social Concern at The Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore Free University features a wide array of personal enrichment, social issues and practical trade courses for a nominal registration fee of $10 per course, with some courses requiring low fees to cover course materials.

Seventeen courses are on the fall schedule, including lessons in shower singing, aging gracefully, financial fitness, scrapbooking, Zydeco dancing, the secrets to great soup-making, and beer history and appreciation. The number of class sessions varies from one-time workshops to courses that meet weekly for several weeks. The complete course list and other information are available online at www.jhu.edu/csc/baltimore_free_u.html.

Classes begin in late September and end in November; actual start and end dates vary by course. Classes will be held in various city locations, including buildings on the university's Homewood campus; the Village Learning Place; 3045 Guilford Ave. in Baltimore; and Community College of Baltimore County, Catonsville.

To register by phone using a MasterCard or Visa, call the Village Learning Place at 410-235-2210, ext. 204, weekdays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Mail-in registration is not accepted.
