Sen. Russ Feingold, D-Wis., co-sponsor of the McCain-Feingold bill on campaign finance reform, will speak at The Johns Hopkins University on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, about "Hardball: Money and Power in the American Political System."

Feingold's speech is part of the Milton S. Eisenhower Symposium's "A Nation United: Politics and Power in the 21st Century," a student- run series of lectures examining the effects of money, the media and political ideology on the American political system. The lecture is scheduled for 8 p.m. in Shriver Hall on the Homewood campus at 3400 N. Charles St. in Baltimore. The event is free and open to the public.

Feingold is working with Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., to enact campaign finance reform legislation, and he has been recognized repeatedly by both the Concord Coalition and Taxpayers for Common Sense for his battle to reduce wasteful government spending. He has represented Wisconsin in the U.S. Senate since 1992, prior to which he served four terms in the Wisconsin State Senate for the 27th District. He currently serves on the Foreign Relation Committee, the Budget Committee, the Judiciary Committee and the Senate's Special Committee on Aging.
