Homewood House Museum presents a new spring music series, Peabody at Homewood: Music at the Museum, which will take place at 5:45 p.m. on the first Friday of the months March through May in the Reception Hall of the historic Federalist mansion. The concert series will be presented every spring thereafter at Homewood House, located at 3400 N. Charles Street on the campus of The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.

The first concert features Berta Rojas, a classical guitarist born in Paraguay who received her master's degree with honors from Peabody. Rojas will perform an hour-long concert of Latin American music by Heitor Villa-Lobos of Brazil, Antonio Lauro of Venezuela, Astor Piazzolla of Argentina and Agustin Barrios of Paraguay. The Friday, April 6, concert will feature Victor de Almeida, a third-year viola student at Peabody. He will perform music written for the viola by Max Reger, Benjamin Britten, Milton Barnes, Lillian Fuchs and Miklos Rozsa. The third concert on May 4 will be performed by Michaela Trnkova, a harpist who received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Peabody and who is now a new member of the Peabody Preparatory faculty. Trnkova will play music by L. Shpor, J.C. Bach, Dussek and Mozart.

A reception will follow each performance. Space is limited; call to reserve a seat. The series is free to members of Homewood, $5 for JHU affiliates and $7 for the public. Concerts begin at 5:45 p.m. Homewood will be open to concert guests at 5 p.m. The 2001 Peabody at Homewood: Music at the Museum series is made possible through the generous support of two members of the Homewood Advisory Council: Vernon H.C.
