Homewood House Offers an Irish Stitch Workshop
and Gallery Talk

In conjunction with the exhibition Needles and Threads: Women's Handiwork, Men's Craftsmanship, Homewood House Museum will offer an Irish stitch workshop on Saturday, Nov. 24, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by a gallery talk at 2 p.m.

Participants will learn Irish stitching, also known as flame stitching, inspired by the historic needlework on display. The museum will provide patterns, but people are also encouraged to design their own patterns. Instructions and all materials will be provided. The cost of the sampler workshop is $20 for members and Johns Hopkins University affiliates, and $25 for non-members. Reservations are required and space is limited.

A 2 p.m. gallery talk by Catherine Rogers Arthur, curator of Needles and Threads: Women's Handiwork, Men's Craftsmanship, will follow the workshop.

Admission to both the workshop and gallery talk is $25 for members and JHU affiliates and $30 for non-members. The cost of the gallery talk alone is $8 for members and JHU affiliates, and $10 for non-members. For further information or to make reservations call 410-516-8639 or visit Homewood on the web at www.jhu.edu/historichouses.

Needles and Threads: Women's Handiwork, Men's Craftsmanship continues through November 25.
