Lyric Spanish Guitar Performance at Hopkins

Gustavo Them, soloist and chamber musician, will perform "The Lyric Spanish Guitar" at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 31, in Shriver Hall on The Johns Hopkins University's Homewood campus, 3400 N. Charles St. in Baltimore.

Born in Spain, Them earned a Graduate Performance Diploma from the Peabody Conservatory at Johns Hopkins, where he studied with Manuel Barrueco. He is the winner of the 1998 Baltimore Chamber Music Competition and a faculty member at St. Mary's College and the Baltimore School for the Arts.

Known for his versatility, Them has performed with musicians such as bandoneonist Raul Jaurena, violinist Jose Cuelo, and soprano Catherine Verrilli and with the Pan American Symphony Orchestra. He regularly performs in music festivals in the United States, Spain, Portugal, Puerto Rico and Peru. Other appearances include the Library of Congress, The George Washington University, Baltimore's ARTSCAPE, and the Second International Festival in Portugal.

This performance is cosponsored with the Peggy and Yale Gordon Trust and is part of the Wednesday Noon Series presented by The Johns Hopkins University Office of Special Events, now in its 36th season of cultural programming on the Homewood campus. Admission is free. For information, call the Office of Special Events at 410-516-7157.
