African-American women enrolled at Goucher College and Johns Hopkins University will share their college preparation tips with African-American girls from Winston Middle School in Baltimore during the third annual Collegiate Black Female Summit at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, in Heubeck Hall's multipurpose room on the campus of Goucher College, 1021 Dulaney Valley Road in Towson.

The day will include college and career planning workshops, a tour of the Goucher College campus, and a panel discussion led by the Goucher and Johns Hopkins students who are members of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. The day's keynote speaker is Patricia Newton, a former faculty member at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine who now devotes much of her time to promoting the contributions African women have made to society.

The goal of the summit is to identify the issues that may inhibit black women's pursuit of higher education and to provide information and networking opportunities to help overcome those problems. The event is sponsored by the Johns Hopkins University Center for Social Organization of Schools, the office of the Dean of Students at Goucher College and the Career Connections/Baltimore City Public School System K-16 Consortium.
