Vermont-based folk musicians The Wood's Tea Company will perform at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24, in the Glass Pavilion on the Johns Hopkins University's Homewood campus, 3400 N. Charles St. in Baltimore.

Known for its dry comedy, boisterous sea chanties, intricate Celtic tunes, bluegrass, and folk songs, The Wood's Tea Company plays banjos, mandolins, hammered dulcimer, synthesizer, bodhran, bouzouki, tin whistle and acoustic guitars. The band started-out playing to small college audiences in Burlington, Vt., then expanded to coffeehouses and Irish pubs. After building a reputation in New England, The Wood's Tea Company began touring nationally from Maryland and North Carolina to Wyoming and Idaho and then to Lincoln Center in New York. The group's last appearance at Johns Hopkins was in 1997.

The Irish Heritage Foundation in New York honored The Wood's Tea Company with an "outstanding innovation award in appreciation and recognition for their creative contributions to Irish music." The band has shared the stage with Livingston Taylor, John Hartford, Aztec Two-Step, Taj Mahal and Vassar Clemments. The group has recorded seven CDs, the most recent entitled "This Side of the Sea."
