D.C.'s Finest, a Washington D.C.-based a cappella group, will open the Spring 2003 Wednesday Noon Series at The Johns Hopkins University on Feb. 5 with a performance, "Doo Wop Cops." This group of active and retired Washington, D.C., police officers will perform nostalgic renditions of songs of the past as well as some current hits. Their unique singing style explains why they are regarded as one of the best a cappella groups in the country.

Presented by the Johns Hopkins Office of Special Events, the Wednesday Noon Series is now in its 37th season of cultural programming on the Homewood campus. All programs in the series are held on Wednesdays from noon to 1 p.m. in Shriver Hall on the Homewood campus, 3400 N. Charles Street in Baltimore. They are open to the public and admission is free.

Feb. 12	The Sacrifice, a dramatic performance written by Benedict A. Dorsey with Benediction Productions Inc. cast members Vladimir N. Cadet, Ivanan Vaughn, and Howard Turner in observance of African American History Month.
Feb. 19	Maryland Basketball: Tales from Cole Field House, a lecture by Paul McMullen, sports writer for the Baltimore Sun and author of a Johns Hopkins University Press book of the same name.
Feb. 26	Jump into Something New, a performance by the Liz Lerman Dance Exchange.
March 5	Fiesta de Mexico, a performance by Los Quetzales Mexican Dance Ensemble.
March 19	The Lords of Misrule: Poems, 1992-2001, a poetry reading by X. J. Kennedy, famed American poet and author of a Johns Hopkins University Press book of the same name.
March 26	Royal Blue Line: The Classic B&O Train between Washington and New York, a discussion by Courtney B. Wilson, executive director of the B&O Railroad Museum and author of the foreword to The Johns Hopkins University Press book of the same name by Herbert H. Harwood Jr.
April 2	A Journey in Song, a recital by rising star tenor Issachah Savage.
April 9	Concert Fandango! a performance by the Aurora Guitar Quartet.
April 16	Shakespeare's Spirited Women, a dramatic performance by Cherie Weinert.
April 23	The Zoo through the Eyes of a Child, a slide lecture by Roger Birkel, executive director, The Baltimore Zoo.
April 30	Scholarly Publishing: The Legacy, The Future, a lecture by Stephen Greenblatt, Cogan University Professor of the Humanities, Harvard University, in Celebration of the 125th Anniversary of The Johns Hopkins University Press.
