In conjunction with the exhibition Conversations, Evergreen House presents "Artist's Conversation: Barry Nemett and Raoul Middleman" at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13, in the Bakst Theatre of the historic house, located at 4545 N. Charles St. in Baltimore.

Conversations celebrates the relationship between Evergreen House and Maryland Institute College of Art and features works by almost 90 artists, many of whom are faculty and alumni of MICA. During their conversation, Nemett, the exhibition curator and chair of the Department of Painting at MICA, and Middleman, also a member of the painting faculty at MICA, will discuss the process of collaborative creativity and its resulting effects on the works created for the exhibition Conversations.

"Artists seldom enter their studio alone," writes Nemett in his introduction to the exhibition catalogue. "Picasso spoke of Velasquez, Ingres and a host of others looking over his shoulder, even whispering in his ear, whenever he stood at his easel. Artists are forever bringing heroes and foes alike into their studios — or, often, discovering them there, uninvited. Given the assumption that such overcrowding confines creativity, the challenge remains for the artists to embrace the best of what their guests, or intruders, have to offer before evicting them — or at least get them to beat it long enough for something 'original' to take place."

"Artist's Conversations: Barry Nemett and Raoul Middleman" is free and open to the public. A reception will follow the discussion.
