Twenty-one female students and staff members at The Johns Hopkins University will present four benefit performances of Eve Ensler's award-winning play "The Vagina Monologues" at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19, Friday, Feb. 20, and Saturday, Feb. 21, and at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 22, in Levering Hall's Arellano Theater on the university's Homewood campus, 3400 N. Charles St. in Baltimore.

The Johns Hopkins production is among those at colleges and universities as part of the V Day 2004 College Campaign, a global movement to stop violence against women and girls. V Day, a non-profit corporation, distributes funds to grassroots, national, and international organizations and programs to increase awareness, raise money, and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence groups. The V Day College Campaign takes place in the weeks surrounding Valentine's Day on 1,000 college campuses worldwide. Visit www.vday.org for more information.

The Johns Hopkins women — a diverse group of undergraduate and graduate students and staff members from the university's Homewood, Peabody and East Baltimore campuses — are dedicating all proceeds to The House of Ruth, a domestic violence shelter in Baltimore. The director is Jane Miller, 21, a senior from New York City who is majoring in film and media studies, and the producer is Leah Miller, 21, a junior from Wellesley, Mass., who is majoring in writing and psychology (Jane and Leah are not related). This year's co-chairs are Brianna Schuyler, 20, a junior from, Katy, Texas, who is majoring in physics and mathematics, and Jennifer Volfson, 20, a senior from New York City, who is majoring in international studies and minoring in economics. Last year, V Day JHU 2003 raised $3,000 for The House of Ruth and TurnAround Inc., another domestic violence shelter in Baltimore.

Tickets to "The Vagina Monologues" are $10 for the general public; $5 for Johns Hopkins students with ID. Tickets may be purchased or reserved by e-mailing [email protected].
