at Theatre Hopkins
Opening June 13 at Swirnow Theatre

Theatre Hopkins will open its final production of the season, Mary Zimmerman's adaptation of The Arabian Nights, on Friday, June 13, at the Swirnow Theater in the Mattin Arts Center on The Johns Hopkins University's Homewood campus, 3400 N. Charles St. in Baltimore.

Zimmerman, best known for her Tony Award-winning Ovid's Metamorphoses, has also adapted The Odyssey and Argonautika, recently seen at Washington's Shakespeare Theater.

Composer Kevin Clark of the Peabody Institute has created an original musical score expressly for this production. The company, led by Peabody and Krieger School of Arts and Sciences graduate Kateri Chambers as Scheherezade, includes Peabody musician Anna Meadors. The cast also features Laurel Burggraf, Rob Douglas, Jim Knost, Scott Knox, Nicko Libowitz, Dyana Neal, Robin Rouse, Beverly Shannon, and Michel Simon.

The production will run three weekends through Sunday, June 29. Curtain time for Friday and Saturday performances is 8 p.m.; Sunday matinees begin at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday matinees. Student rush tickets for $5 are available at curtain time for all performances, if space allows.
