Mosaic Trio Performs at Johns Hopkins
The Mosaic Trio, a group noted for its diverse fusion of
sounds, will present a
performance, "Mosaic Woven Rhythms: Old To New," at noon on
Wednesday, March 24,
in Shriver Hall on the Johns Hopkins University's Homewood
campus, 3400 N. Charles
St., in Baltimore.
The Trio will offer listeners a musical tour from North
Africa, Southern Europe
and Western Asia. Combining authentic hand drums with Western
drum sets, electric
cello, soprano sax and flute, Mosiac will demonstrate the
history, musical forms, rhythms
and distinctive timbres of various cultures and what this music
has in common with the
jazz and hip-hop of modern-day America.
This performance is part of the Wednesday Noon Series
presented by the Johns
Hopkins Office of Special Events.
Admission is free. For
further information, call the Office of Special Events at
410-516-7157.
