Hopkins Panel Discussion to Focus on Y2K Concerns

Richard Muth, administrator of the Baltimore County Office of Emergency Preparedness; Baltimore City's chief information technology officer, Elliot H. Schlanger; and Warren Campbell, special assistant to the director of the Maryland Emergency Management Agency, are the panelists for "A Talk on Y2K: The End of the World or a Bump in the Road?" The discussion will be moderated by Michael J. Cleveland, information analyst with Johns Hopkins University's Networking and Communications Office, at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 20, in Shriver Hall on the university's Homewood campus, 3400 N. Charles Street in Baltimore.

For years, people have been discussing and planning for Y2K. Some people consider the dire prophecies nothing more than media hype. Others predict the fall of civilization. This panel discussion offers the opportunity to hear the facts and dispel the myths as well as to provide direction on how to prepare for the year 2000.
