Dr. Paul Greengard, named as one of three joint winners of the 2000 Nobel Prize in Medicine on October 9, in 1953 received a Ph.D. in biophysics from The Krieger School of Arts and Sciences at The Johns Hopkins University. Greengard, 74, is now head of the Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Neuroscience at Rockefeller University. He was recognized for studies of the way brain cells respond to chemical messengers such as dopamine.
