"Russian Symphonic Music," an eight-session course offered by Johns Hopkins University's non-credit Odyssey Program, details the evolution of the national sound through vintage recordings and key symphonies, as well as by examining the lives of the great composers such as Tchaikovsky, Borodin, Rachmaninoff and Shostakovich. The course is being taught by Jonathan Palevsky, who is program director at WBJC and president of the Association of Music Personnel in Public Radio. These interesting evening session classes run from Wednesday, March 5 through Wednesday, April 30 and each class is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on The Johns Hopkins University's Homewood campus, 3400 N.
