John B. Bader has been appointed associate dean for academic advising in the Zanvyl Kreiger School of Arts and Sciences at The Johns Hopkins University. Bader returns to the Office of Academic Advising, where he had been assistant dean, after serving as interim dean of Advanced Academic Programs in the Krieger School. In addition to overseeing the advising program, Bader will be responsible for summer and intersession programs, as well as for overseeing the Washington semesters in public service and the humanities, the Post-Baccalaureate Premedical Program, and the Department of Military Science. "John's demonstrated commitment to undergraduates and to the Krieger School will serve us exceedingly well as he moves forward in his new role," said Paula P. Burger, dean of undergraduate education at Johns Hopkins. Before coming to Johns Hopkins, Bader served as director of UCLA's Center for American Politics and Public Policy in Washington. He earned an M.A. in political science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1990 and a Ph.D. from there in 1994. After finishing his undergraduate work at Yale University in 1985, he studied in India on a Fulbright Scholarship. Bader was also policy director for the successful U.S. Senate campaign of Jon S. Corzine, D-N..J., in 2000. Bader has also worked as a researcher and assistant editor for the ABC News political unit. He also studied as a Brookings Institution research fellow.
