Steinberg Named Associate Dean of
Advanced Academic Programs

Sarah B. Steinberg, who worked for more than a decade for the Whiting School of Engineering at The Johns Hopkins University, has been named the associate dean of Advanced Academic Programs in the Zanvyl Krieger School of Arts and Sciences.

The associate dean of Advanced Academic Programs is responsible for strategic planning concerning all aspects of this growing graduate program for part-time students. With 10 master's degrees, the program serves the regional community in disciplines such as applied economics, bioinformatics, government, liberal arts and, more recently, drug discovery technologies and homeland security.

"Sarah will work closely with the academic leadership of Advanced Academic Programs to develop future programming and the business and marketing plans to support it," said Daniel Weiss, the James B. Knapp Dean of the Krieger School. "Sarah brings considerable experience to the position and we are thrilled that she will be joining us."

Before coming to Johns Hopkins in 1993, Steinberg worked as a marketing manager and senior engineer at the engineering firm of Froehling and Robertson Inc. in Sterling, Va. She obtained bachelor's (1978) and master's (1979) degrees in civil engineering from Cornell University, as well as a master's degree in finance and marketing from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in 1986. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in higher education management from the University of Pennsylvania.
