Media Advisory
The Center for Social Organization of Schools is celebrating the second birthday of the Baltimore Talent Development High School, an "innovation high school" that CSOS runs in partnership with Baltimore City Public Schools. Reporters are welcome to attend this event to interview students, parents, teachers and curriculum developers as they celebrate their successes, including an average attendance rate of 90 percent at the school last year. The evening will include student performances and staff presentations. The program encourages the individual talents of each student, nurturing academic development in small classes with high expectations, extra instructional support where needed and strong interpersonal relationships among students, faculty and staff. BTDHS also facilitates community involvement, daily arts courses and a focus on college and career expectations. Located at 1500 Harlem Ave., the school has 300 students in ninth and tenth grades this year, having started with 140 ninth graders last year. (The school will add a grade each year until it reaches its capacity of 600 students in grades 9-12.)
