Spring Classes at the Baltimore Free University
Registration begins Wednesday, Feb. 22.

Registration for spring semester adult education courses offered by the Baltimore Free University will be held during a "meet the instructors" event from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22, at The Village Learning Place, 2521 St. Paul St. in Baltimore. Registration continues through March 2. For information, call 410-235-2210.

The registration session will provide an opportunity to learn more about the informal non-credit adult education program and its course offerings. Students will also have the chance to meet their instructors, many of whom live in the community or are doctoral candidates, professors and students at Johns Hopkins or alumni of the university.

Sponsored by The Village Learning Place and the Center for Social Concern at The Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore Free University features a wide array of personal enrichment, social issues and practical trade courses for a nominal registration fee of $10 per course. Twenty-five courses are on the spring schedule, which includes studies in photojournalism, Baltimore's urban ecosystem, public speaking, childbirth preparation, and effective debt management. The number of class sessions varies from one- time workshops to courses that meet weekly for several weeks. The complete course list and other information is available online at www.jhu.edu/csc/baltimore_free_u.html.

Classes begin in March and end in May; actual start and end dates vary by course. Classes will be held in various city locations, including buildings on the university's Homewood campus, 3400 N. Charles St.; the Village Learning Place; Homewood Friends Meeting, 3107 N. Charles St.; and American Friends Service Committee, 4806 York Rd.

To register by phone using a MasterCard or Visa, call the Village Learning Place at 410-235-2210, ext. 204, weekdays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Mail-in registration is not accepted.
