Test Your Approximate Number Sense
New York Times interactive feature recreates
Johns Hopkins study, lets you test yourself

The New York Times ran a story Sept. 16 featuring Krieger School of Arts and Sciences research that shows a link between "approximate number sense," the ability to quickly and accurately make numerical estimates, and ability in formal mathematics.

The Times also posted an online feature allowing you to try your hand at the same task that was given to the teenagers who participated in the study.
