Reich Promoted to Professor

Daniel Reich, a faculty member in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at The Johns Hopkins University, has been promoted to the rank of professor.

The university's board of trustees approved the promotion, which takes effect July 1.

Reich's research is in solid-state and low-temperature physics. He has emerged as a key faculty member in his department's condensed-matter group.

Considered among the top researchers in his field, he has a strong reputation as an excellent teacher and lecturer. He has initiated new graduate and undergraduate courses and was a major contributor in the establishment of an instructional computer laboratory in his department.

The author of more than 29 professional articles, Reich has been on faculty at Johns Hopkins since 1990. He earned his bachelor of arts degree, in physics, at Harvard University in 1974 and his Ph.D., in physics, at the University of Chicago in 1988.
