After our 2019 trip to Philadelphia, we made subsequent trips to Pittsburgh and
Ann Arbor before the pandemic hit in early 2020 and pretty much curtailed all travel.
After more than 2 years we finally felt ready to get back on the road and returned
to Philadelphia in late April of 2022. We were still limited in how far we coud
walk so this time we used the "Big Bus" tourist bus. We stayed at a hotel on Logan
Square and the Ben Franklin Parkway. By using the bus we were able to get to the
old town and the waterfront of the Delaware River as well as up to the Philadelphia
art museum and the "Rocky Steps". The first day I just took my phone and snapped
a lot of pictures with it from the open air bus. We rode around the complete bus
circuit but didn't get off until we were back at our hotel where I went over to Logan
Square and took a number of pictures of the fountain in the square and of City Hall
through the fountain. We had dinner at the hotel in the "Urban Farmer" restaurant and
afterwards went up to the lounge patio on the 9th floor where I took pictures of the
Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul located on Logan Square and pictures looking
up from the square to the Art Museum. On the second day we took the bus to old town and
got off in front of the Betsy Ross house and then walked through Elfreth's Alley and down
to the Race Street Pier. I took a number of pictures of the Ben Franklin Bridge that
links Philadelphia to New Jersey on the other side of the Delaware River. We found
lunch in a small deli on the waterfront and then walked back to where we could catch
the bus back to our hotel. We had dinner close by restaurant and I took some pictures
of the Arch Street Presbyterian Church. Finally on the third morning we got some
donuts at the Federal donut shop and headed out on the highway home.
