Public forum scheduled at Homewood for Maryland political
candidates

A candidates' forum will be held Saturday, Aug. 20, beginning
at 9:30 a.m. in Shriver Hall on the Homewood campus. All
Democratic and Republican candidates for governor, the state
Senate and delegates for the 40th, 42nd and 43rd districts
have been invited. The discussion will focus on education,
public safety and economic development. 
    Peter Berns, executive director of the Maryland
Association of Nonprofit Organizations, will moderate the
forum. The gubernatorial candidates will speak from 9:30 to
10:30 a.m., followed by district forum sessions from 11 a.m.
till noon.
    The forum, which is free and open to the public, is
sponsored by Hopkins' Office of State and Local Affairs and
the Greater Homewood Community Corp., Inc. For more
