JHUniverse: INFONET PREMIERES

The JHMI InfoNet, a hypertext information center available on
the World Wide Web, premieres Sept. 6. The new center
contains a wealth of information for Medical Institutions
students, professors, researchers and patients alike.
"Our goal is to make available as complete a range of
information about the Medical Institutions as possible," said
Karla Hahn, network-based services manager in the Welch
Medical Library. "We foresee JHMI InfoNet as being a place to
find directories, course information, campus resources,
directions and other services."
With the help of an advisory council that has been
meeting since June, Hahn and others in the division of
Biomedical Information Sciences have created a user-friendly
resource information system that offers electronic visitors a
wide array of information on the schools of Nursing, Medicine
and Public Health, as well as activities and events occurring
on the East Baltimore campus.
"Our goal is to provide whatever information we can to
help students, faculty, visitors and friends find whatever
information they might need about the Medical Institutions
and the East Baltimore campus," Hahn said.
JHMI InfoNet can be reached via mosaic or other World
Wide Web systems by entering the following command at the URL
prompt: HTTP://infonet.welch.jhu.edu. Help support is
available for the new system by calling 955-3410, or by
e-mailing: help@infonet.welch.jhu.edu.
Departments or individuals interested in posting
information on the system should contact Hahn via e-mail at:
khahn@welch.jhu.edu or by phone at 614-1286.
